"Finding ways forward that feel right for you and your family."
About Me
I’m Rebecca, a qualified and BACP-registered person-centred counsellor Alongside my professional training, I bring lived experience as a parent to a child with long-term health conditions and neurodivergence. Navigating complex healthcare and education systems, advocating for appropriate support and experiencing the pressures this can place on family life ultimately led me to retrain as a counsellor.
I understand how quickly illness, disability, neurodivergence, bereavement, relationship difficulties or changes within a family can affect the family dynamic. Children and young people may struggle to understand or communicate what they are feeling, while parents can find themselves trying to manage practical demands while supporting the emotional wellbeing of the whole family.
At Silver Penguin Family Therapy, I provide a supportive space to explore what is happening, make sense of difficult emotions and experiences, and find ways forward that feel right for you and your family.
"A collabrative non-judgemental approach"
How I work
Therapy at Silver Penguin is about being heard, understood and supported so that meaningful and lasting change can unfold naturally.
Rather than offering advice or directing you towards predetermined solutions, I provide a therapeutic space built on empathy, acceptance and genuine understanding. We work together to build self-awareness, strengthen self-worth, reduce shame and self-blame, and find solutions that feel right for you.
For children and young people, this often means offering a space where feelings can be explored through conversation, creativity or play — without pressure or judgement. For parents, it provides an opportunity to reflect, gain clarity and reconnect with your own confidence and instincts.
I believe lasting change does not come from being told what to do. It comes from feeling truly heard and understood. When that foundation is in place, growth follows naturally.
My work is neurodivergent -affirming and strengths based. I aim to understand each individual's way of experiencing the world. offering support that respects difference rather than trying to change who someone is.
